If it’s a Stones Throw record chances are it’s worth a spin and that’s what heightened my curiosity when I saw the cover and of course the “ATTENTION DEE-JAYS” plastered at the top. I like how Broadway stays true to the sixties Motown Soul-pop feel and the synergy between Myron and Erick is on the money. Critics may argue that they don’t have the bite and grit of the founding fathers of soul but their craft is aided by the slick strings and the sublime backup vocals by the Finnish soul aficionados The Soul Investigators – gives the record that edge. My favorite track off the record has to be “Do It Do Disco”.
Broadway is the kinda record you wanna play at a Sunday afternoon cookout or at your aunt’s fifth wedding. Solid debut and I’m definitely keeping tabs on their catalog.
